The Mayde Creek Girls Track Team competed at the Magnolia ISD Relays at Magnolia High School on Saturday, February 21. The girls had an awesome showing and came home with the Championship Plaque, placing 1
st with 173 points, 43 points ahead of Houston Cy-Falls who came in second.

The Lady Rams had many outstanding performances this weekend and brought back golds in 8 different events.

First place finishes:

The 4X200 meter relay team, consisting of Olivia EsemenaDanielle IngramA’ke’llah Brown & Tameka Wilson worked together to secure 1st place with a time of 1:44.17.

Also winning their event in a convincing finish was the4X400 meter relay team. Jatori HonoraSyntyche LaguerreJavlyn Cameron and Hailey Williams ran extremely well and pulled away from the competition early on and kept opening the gap with each leg, finishing with a time of 4:07.06.

In individual running events, six girls earned gold medals.Olivia Esemena raced to the finish line in a time of 12.19 in the 100 meter dashJatori Honora claimed a gold medal in the 400 meter dash with a time of 60.39. Both girls won their races convincingly. In the 300 meter hurdlesHailey Williams had an awesome race winning the event and setting a personal record with a time of 45.77. Wrapping up the golds was Javlyn Cameron in the100 meter hurdles running a fast time of 13.97.

Two girls brought home gold from the field events.Samara Hodges won the High Jump with a jump of 5’2” and Olivia Esemena won the Triple Jump with a jump of37-03. 

The girls’ 4X100 meter relay team, consisting of  Olivia EsemenaDanielle IngramA’Ke’llah Brown andTameka Wilson, had a nice performance bringing home a 2nd place finish for the Lady Rams with a finishing time of 49.41.

Tessa BirminghamIngramWilson and Jatori Honora brought home the silver medal in the Sprint Medley Relay (100m, 100m, 200m & 400m) with a time of 1:56.57.

The Distance Medley (1200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m) team, consisting of Ysatis GonzalezPaulette Low,Andrea Vo and Lexi Torbit placed 5th with a time of14:32.

A’ke’llah Brown competed hard in the 100m dash and ran a fast personal record time of 12.80, good for a 4thplace finish.

In the 400 meter dashSyntyche Laguerre completed the race in a time of 64.55, placing 3rd in the event.

Tessa Birmingham placed 6th in the 200 meter dashwith a time of 28.81.

In the field events, Monica James placed 6th in the Shot Put with a distance of 30-02.50. Chelsea Oydele placed 6th in the Discus with a throw of 76-01.50. In the Long Jump, Olivia Esemena placed 3rd with a jump of 16-02.50 and A’ke’llah Brown finished in 6th place, jumping 15-04.50. Syntyche Laguerre placed 6th in the Triple Jumpwith a jump of 32-06.

The athletes competed hard this weekend and we saw some great performances. All of their hard work paid off by securing 1st place at the meet. We will be back in action on Friday, February 27, at the Golden Eagle Invitational at Cy-Falls High School.
