 Subject: Girls' Track Update

The Mayde Creek Girls Track Team competed at the Katy ISD Bubba Fife Relays at Tompkins High School on Saturday, February 14. The girls placed 4th against a very competitive field of 20 teams. They came out ready to compete and did an amazing job.

The Lady Rams were led with an outstanding performance byJunior Olivia Esemena. Olivia was named High Point Athlete of the meet and received a nice plaque for this honor. (Picture included)  This was a huge accomplishment, and we all are very proud of her. Olivia brought home a gold medal in the 100 meter dash with an outstanding time of 11.79, received a silver medal in the Long Jump with a jump of 37-07, and was also a member of the 4X100 and 4X200 meter relay teams, which both placed 3rd

Junior Samara Hodges also brought back a gold medal by placing 1st in High Jump with a jump of 5’2”.

As always, the hurdle competitors did not disappoint.Sophomore Javlyn Cameron had an awesome performance by winning the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.12. Junior Hailey Williams also had a great performance in the 100m hurdles, placing 4th with a time of 15.12. Both girls ran faster times than last year!

In the 300 meter hurdles, Javlyn and Hailey earned 4th & 5thplace medals by running times of 45.82 and 46.32, respectively. These times were faster than last year for both girls, as well.

The girls’ 4X100 meter relay team, consisting of Juniors Olivia Esemena and Samara Hodges and Seniors A’Ke’llah Brown andTameka Wilson, raced hard with a time of 47.95, earning them a bronze medal.

The 4X200 meter relay team, consisting of EsemenaWilliams,Brown, and Wilson added another wonderful performance by placing 3rd in the event with a time of 1:41.17.

Both relay teams dramatically improved their times from last year’s meet!

In addition to Olivia’s 2nd place finish in the Triple Jump,Sophomore Syntyche Laguerre placed 6th with a jump of 34-06. This was awesome for her first time competing in this event.

We saw some great things from our athletes this past weekend, as well as some things we need to improve on. The girls will hit the track hard this week in preparation for their upcoming meet on Saturday at Magnolia High School.

Please congratulate the girls when you see them. Thank you for all your support and what you do for our athletes!
